Chateau Monlot 2011

Chateau Monlot 2011

Appellation: Saint Emilion Grand Cru

Description: Located at the foothills of Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, Chateau Monlot is a 8.5 hectare vineyard consisting of sandy clay, clay and clay-limestone soil which is excellent terroir for cultivating merlot and cabernet franc.

Once named “Maison Noble de Capet”, the historical 400-year-old chateau was bought by Chinese International film star, Zhao Wei in December 2011. Coupled with passion and the great opportunity to produce premium quality red wine in France, Zhao Wei has dedicated herself to bringing great success and recognition as one of the most important wineries in the world to Chateau Monlot’s prestigious labels.

The same passion and dedication brings together the expertise of Jean-Claude Berrouet (well known winemaker for Chateau Petrus) & Claude Bourguignon (well known soil analyst for Romanee Conti), giving the wine a powerful guarantee of excellent quality.

Blending: • 77% Merlot, • 23% Cabernet Franc

Tasting Note: Intense dark vermilion color with a beautiful brilliance. Fresh nose with predominant but well structured woody fragrance. The mineral character is important with touches of chalk. With aeration, spices and red fruits appear. The wine is rich on the palate, with a firm but fine tannic frame. The ensemble is well-balanced with liquorice and spicy on the finish together with a beautiful length.
